Playground Project – Mavrovo, North Macedonia
This project was planned for a hospitality setting in Mavrovo, North Macedonia, at approximately 1,400 metres altitude. The playground needed to fit naturally into a mountain environment while remaining practical for regular guest use.
Project requirements
- Approximate playground area: 150 m²
- Hospitality setting
- Outdoor use in a mountain climate
- Natural visual character compatible with the surrounding landscape
Playground approach
The project was developed around durable wooden play equipment and a layout suitable for a compact hospitality environment. Particular attention was given to circulation, clear safety zones and the relationship between the play area and the surrounding guest facilities.
Surface and installation
The project also included planning for an impact-attenuating surface area of approximately 50 m². Elysee coordinated the playground production, delivery and installation process, with materials selected for permanent outdoor use and planning based on EN 1176 playground safety principles.
Mavrovo project questions
How large was the planned playground area?
Elysee’s Mavrovo hospitality project was planned for approximately 150 m², with approximately 50 m² of impact-attenuating surfacing. The surfacing figure describes part of the project, rather than the total playground area.
What site conditions shaped the Mavrovo project?
The site is at approximately 1,400 metres altitude in North Macedonia. Mountain weather, drainage, ground preparation and maintenance were relevant planning considerations alongside circulation and equipment safety zones.

Preparing a brief for a mountain hospitality site
For a new project inspired by Mavrovo, send a measured plan showing slopes, existing drains, paths and the area available for construction access. Include photographs of the ground and information about seasonal access. These details allow the equipment layout, ground works and delivery programme to be assessed together.
The approximately 150 m² project area and 50 m² of surfacing recorded here describe this installation; they are not a standard allocation for every resort playground. A new surface specification needs the selected equipment and its model-specific requirements. Our hotel playground guide explains how to compare equipment and installation scope. Request model-specific maintenance guidance when planning operation through changing seasons.
Planning mountain and resort playgrounds
For mountain hotels, restaurants and resorts, altitude, winter conditions, drainage, ground preparation and long-term maintenance should be considered together with the play equipment itself. Elysee can prepare a project-specific proposal from site dimensions, photos, plans and the expected number and age range of children.
